Essential Drafting Supplies
Every design starts with a drawing utensil. Whether the preferred medium is mechanical pencils, pens, markers, or a combination of all three, high-quality tools are the way to get the job done. Different projects will require different types of paper. Thick or thin, large or small, we’ve got a great selection of options to suit your needs. A steady surface is a must for clear, legible drawings. Stationary tables are great in the classroom, but portable drawing boards give students the freedom to complete their projects from anywhere that inspires them.
Additional Drafting Supplies
Although paper and pencil are enough to get started, detailed drawings will require additional help. Drafting tape gives you a firm grip and ensures paper doesn’t go flying around everywhere, ruining your designs. A variety of drawing instruments will be helpful for getting the right lines, curves, and angles: templates, T-squares, compasses, triangles, protractors, French curves, scales, and rulers. Drafting Storage
One class period is never long enough for students to go from a blank sheet of paper to a completed design. Having an organized storage system helps make the most of class time and keep projects moving efficiently. To get class started quickly, drawing supplies and instruments can be kept in individual mesh bags for each student. Smaller projects, or those with multiple pieces, can be organized in an expanding file folder. For larger projects and tools, a supply cabinet will keep everything together and save some space. Drawing boards come in plenty of sizes, and some of them are quite large, taking up a lot of space. A cabinet that’s specifically designed to hold them is a great way to ensure your classroom stays organized and clutter-free.
