Precisely machined from 1045 machine grade steel, this chuck comes with an anti-release spindle lock. This model is a dedicated threaded 1" 8TPI RH version, exclusively for use on the NOVA Comet II Mini Lathe (and other lathes with a 1" x 8 TPI spindle). This ensures the chuck will stay securely mounted on the lathe throughout forward and reverse turning applications. One-handed, geared operation means fast opening and closing which is ideal for production turning of smaller pieces. The gears are strong and smooth. Automatic jaw safety stop means jaws won't extend past the chuck. Copper-infused jaw slides provide lubrication and resistance to wear. The small chuck size and weight minimizes loads on small spindles and bearings. It accepts all 26 Plus NOVA accessory jaws in the range (exception of Infinity and Titan III) to handle a wide range of projects.

Easily convert your NOVA chuck into a fast and accurate Pen Blank drilling facility. The big jaw profile provides a vibration-free, solid grip for all sizes of pen blanks and an accurate centered hole every time. Being able to finely control the drill feed on the lathe is a big advantage to prevent break out on those delicate pen walls. Also perfect for squaring up the pen blank ends after gluing in the pen kit tubes. The Mandrel Saver is perfect for saving the center point and the Pen Mandrel shaft from damage caused by overtightening the tailstock center.
